AESE Mission & Membership
AESE Mission & Membership
Our mission is to advance efforts toward Christian environmental stewardship that have up till now been informal and occasional. Our goal is to promote conversation, research, and publication on issues relevant to saving the creation, and to make the results of our efforts effective in colleges and universities, seminaries, institutes, organizations, homes, communities, and in environmental policies and practices in which we participate.
Our hope is that our efforts will become known both in the evangelical world and beyond, and that the AESE will become a reliable and credible source of scientific and ethical knowledge for Christian environmental stewardship, faithful earthkeeping, and care for God’s creation.
Membership in the AESE happens as follows:
*Individuals become members of the AESE based upon their qualifications, professional status, expertise, and contributions to Christian environmental stewardship
**Scientists and ethicists become AESE Fellows through nomination by existing Fellows of the Academy
**Fellows are expected to hold the highest academic degree in their field of scholarship and research, or demonstrate equivalent levels of expertise and achievement
**AESE Fellows, as scientists and ethicists, are also expected to be members of an evangelically-committed church
Our aim is to personify an understanding of the inexpressible richness, depth, and beauty of Christ’s work, in our relations with each other and with the creation. Our hope is that our Fellows will become so rooted in the richness of the faith that they will become God’s stewards of the creation with love, devotion, and dedication.
